A new international study, under the title “Evolving the Connected Enterprise”, provides extensive data on the issues arising from using mobile business solutions for IT. The survey, sponsored by Oracle, primarily addressed technological factors that are critical to the success of mobile applications. In addition, IT managers were asked in which areas they see the greatest opportunities, both today and in the future. In summary, the main results were as follows:
– 93% of respondents worry about data loss and security risks when using mobile devices.
– Companies are more focused on external users of mobile devices than on internal employees.
– Release and maintenance cycles are shorter. For 87% of respondents, new applications are released or existing applications are updated at least every six months.
– Expenditure for the support of mobile enterprise applications will increase by 52% over the next two years.
– 75% of respondents described the cloud as “important” or “very important” for the use of mobile applications.
