German hotel and restaurant industry lost 7.0% in turnover in April

In April this year turnover generated in the German hotel and restaurant industry was down by 4.7% (nominally) and 7.0% in real figures as compared to April last year. On March this year turnover fell by 1.2% and 1.3% respectively (after adjustments for calendar and season). In the period from January to April this year turnover generated in the German hotel and restaurant industry dropped by on average 4.8 % and 7.0 % respectively each month.

Turnover was down in both the hotel industry and the restaurant business in April this year as compared to April last year in both nominal and real terms. The hotel industry lost 11.4 % (nominally) and 14.2 % (in real terms) while turnover generated in the restaurant business was down by 0.5 % and 2.6 % respectively. Within the restaurant business a major loss in turnover affected caterer businesses, turnover of which was down by 8.5 % and 10.6 % respectively. GERMAN
