EU sponsors China training for managers of SMEs

The objective of the “EU-China Managers Exchange and Training Programme” (METP) is to help small and medium-sized entities (SMEs) and non-governmental organizations to set up or improve businesss relations with China. To this end, a training programme was set up for managers of these businesses and organizations which is completely sponsored by the EU Commission. Applications should be submitted no later than January 4th 2009.

The long-term objective of this training is to sustainably improve the relations between the EU and China by exchange programmes and economic co-operation. Says Mr. Stefan Hell, director of METP in Beijing: “The METP programme will teach the participants everything they need in order to be successful in China. The programme is not only about economy, culture and business ethics, but also about establishing contacts and long-term relations between Chinese people and Europeans.”

The training programme will last for ten months. The EU Commission will pay for the organization as well as the tuition fees. Each month participants will receive 1000 Euros in order to pay for their cost of living. On finishing the training participants will receive a diploma of the EU ambassador to China.

METP is an iniative by the EU Commission and the Chinese government and will last four years. This programme consists of four phases of participation. The application process for METP 4 which will start in May 2009 will come to a close on January 4th. Applicants should have little or no knowledge of Chinese.
