Exports up by 9.0 percent

German exports grew by 9% in February as compared to January while imports increased by 7%. As was reported by the Federal Statistical Office, goods to the value of 84.6 billion Euros were exported in February 2008, whereas the value of goods imported to Germany was 67.7 billion Euros. For the time being, these figures are still provisional.

The German foreign trade balance closed with a surplus of 16.9 billion Euros in February this year (in February 2007: 14.3 billion Euros). After adjustments for calendar and season the surplus still amounted to 16.4 billion Euros.

According to provisional calculations by the German Bundesbank the balance of current accounts closed with a surplus of 15.4 billion Euros in February this year. In February 2007 the surplus had been 11.4 billion Euros. GERMAN
