German exports increased significantly in November

In November 2007 Germany exported goods worth 87.8 billion Euros. Imports amounted to 68.5 billion Euros. Thus, in November German exports were up by 3.2% and imports by 2.3% as compared to November 2006. However, these and the following figures provided by the Federal Statistical Office are for the time being just provisional.

Compared to October 2007, however, the development was less satisfactory: in adjusted figures exports and imports decreased by 0.5% and 3.0% respectively.

The foreign trade balance closed with a surplus of 19.3 billion Euros in November 2007 whereas the surplus had been 18.1 billion in November 2006. After adjustments for calendar and season the foreign trade surplus amounted to 19.8 billion Euros in November 2007.

The balance of current accounts closed with a surplus of 20.0 billion Euros in November 2007. In November 2006 the surplus was 14.9 billion Euros.

German exports and imports to member countries of the European Union amounted to 56.6 and 44.6 billion Euros respectively in November 2007. In comparison with November 2006 exports increased by 9.5% and imports by 4.1%. In November 2007 exports and imports to and from Eurozone member countries amounted to 37.2 billion Euros (+8.4%) and 30.6 billion Euros (+1.9%) respectively. Exports and imports to and from EU member countries not belonging to the Eurozone amounted to 19.3 billion Euros (+11.8%) and 14.0 billion Euros (+9.2%) respectively in November 2007.

Exports to and imports from countries outside the European Union amounted to 31.2 billion and 23.9 billion Euros respectively in November 2007. In comparison to November 2006 exports and imports to and from these countries decreased by 6.6% and 0.8% respectively. GERMAN
