Order inflow up by 23.2 percent in main construction trade

According to the Federal Statistical Office, the number of incoming orders to German companies in the main construction trade (companies with at least 20 employees) increased by 23.2% in October 2007 as compared to October last year. Thus, incoming orders increased by 12.3% in building construction and by 35.5% in underground engineering. The strong overall increase in mainly due to some major orders in underground engineering.

As of the end of October there were in total 728.000 people working in civil engineering which amounts to a decrease of 9000 employees (-1.2%) over the last twelve months. Total turnover amounted to about 8.2 billion Euros in October which is a plus of 0.2% in comparison with October last year.

In the period from January to October 2007 the number of incoming orders increased by 3.4% as compared to the same period in 2006. The total turnover generated in this period amounted to about 66 billion Euros which is 3.1% more than in the same period last year.
