In 2007 Germany once more world´s leading exporting country

On the occasion of the presentation of the “World Trade Report 2007″, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) presented provisional figures on this year´s world trade yesterday in Geneva. According to these figures, Germany once more won the title of being the world´s leading exporting county ahead of China. These figures are based on data for the period from January to September 2007. The WTO does not expect any changes in this order by the end of this year.

According to the WTO figures, worldwide German exports of goods increased by 19% over the first nine months as compared to the same period last year and reached 969 billion US dollars (imports: +15% to 768 billion US dollars). In 2006 German goods exports contributed about 39% to German GDP. According to estimates this percentage is to increase slightly this year. GERMAN
