5.6 percent more turnover in goods producing industry

According to provisional data provided by the Federal Statistical Office turnover in adjusted real figures increased by 5.6% in July this year as compared to July 2006. This growth is slightly smaller than that in June (+5.9%). As compared to June 2007 turnover increased by 0.1% in July (June: -0.4%).

In relation to July 2006 domestic turnover increased by 3.0% and that in the business with foreign purchasers by 9.0%. At the same time turnover in the business with countries from the Eurozone increased by 8.5% and that with the rest of the world by 9.2% in July this year as compared to the same month last year.

With regard to most important industrial sectors turnover increased most in the field of mechanical engineering by 10.9% (domestic: +8.0%, with countries abroad: +13.3%), followed by the producers of metallic products the turnover of which grew by 7.7% (domestic: +5.8%, with countries abroad: +12.5%). Turnover grew least in the food industry amounting to 0.9% (domestic: 0%, abroad: +5.7%).

As compared to June 2007 domestic turnover fell by 0.2% in July while the business with foreign purchasers grew by 0.3%. Turnover in the business with countries form the Eurozone increased by 0.2% and that with all the other countries abroad by 0.4%.

In cumulative figures turnover in the goods producing industry increased by 7.0% in the period from January to July 2007 as compared to the same period last year with the domestic business growing by 5.0% and turnover with countries abroad by 9.5%. GERMAN
