German women with outstanding computer skills

Compliments to our women! According to the German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM) they are in fourth place among the 27 EU member states in terms of computer skills. 51 percent of German women have in the meantime acquired computer knowledge of medium or good quality. Just women from Scandinavia are doing even better.

The corresponding percentage is 64 percent for Denmark, 55 percent for Sweden and 53 percent for Finland. On average 41 percent of all women in the EU have computer skills of medium or good quality. These figures are based on data provided by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).

In the course of this study on computer skills women and men between 16 and 74 years of age were questioned in a representative way in all the EU member states. In the interviews they were asked to provide data on their capabilities. They were asked on criteria such as the copying of files, the use of spread sheets as well as the compilation of a computer programme by means of a particular programming language. GERMAN
