Application period for German internet award started

As from today you may apply for participation in the German internet award competition organized by the German Association for Information Management , Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM). Winners will be awarded cash prizes to the value of 25.000, 20.000 and 15.000 Euros. By July 31st small and medium-sized entities with clever digital concepts which have proven a success in practice may apply for taking part in this competition. “We would like to encourage companies to use the internet even more”, explains Mr. Heinz Paul Bonn, BITKOM´s vice president, the philosophy behind the competition.

This year´s competition is carried out under the auspices of the Federal Minister for economic affairs, Mr. Michael Glos. In last year´s competition 420 companies took part. Once more in 2007 the award ceremony is going to take place on the occasion of the German information and telecommunications conference. BITKOM expects that this year´s conference on the 6th of November in Stuttgart will attract several hundreds of experts of this line of industry. By then an independent jury consisting of experts from the world of business and science will have shortlisted nine finalists.

The event is organized by BITKOM in co-operation with Datev, Deutsche Telekom, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Microsoft, Oracle, PricewaterhouseCoopers. More information is available on the internet. GERMAN
