Through a “Green Book on the use of satellite navigation” for the Galileo satellite system the European Commission also addresses hightech small and medium-sized entities and think tanks. According to its preamble the purpose of this Green Book is to open a discussion which is to spur the development of new applications in satellite navigation.
Some experts fear that the advantage of the Galileo system in comparison to the US satellite navigation system may not be such as to automatically make Galileo the world´s number one, the more so as apart from technical features economic interdependences also play an important role.
In the Green Book there is a series of questions the answers to which will be analized by the Commission and form the basis of recommendations directed to the Council and Parliament.
