There is still growth potential for turnover generated abroad

The number of small and medium-sized entities doing business on an international scale is constantly increasing. Even though in most companies international business still plays a minor role, the share of those generating major parts of their turnover abroad gets bigger and bigger. In the course of the nationwide Going International 2006 survey by the Association of German Chambers of Commerce (DIHK) almost 1.500 German companies operating abroad were questioned. The findings: The foreign turnover of more than half of those companies surveyed (52 percent) amounts up to 40 percent in proportion to their total turnover, 18 percent generated up to 60 percent and more than a quarter even up to 100 percent of their turnover abroad. By the end of 2010 all companies wish to substantially increase their foreign turnover. The study is available for free-of-charge download. GERMAN
